Despite the rains, we are fast approaching the conclusion of the building operations in the centre of our school, with an opening of the Square planned for mid-June. Our planning now moves to an exciting College development. Approval for the demolition of the house at the end of our lay-by has been granted and we shall be building a modern and spacious classroom block on this space. There will be room for 11 College classrooms, including a Science Laboratory as well as accommodation for large group sessions.
In addition, a new canteen has been planned that will spill out on to our Founders’ Lawns and give our boys a modern and luxurious leisure area. This will be for the use of the Prep and College boys. The demolition of the staff quarters next to the Media Centre will afford our boys more areas in which to ‘chill’, as will the opening of our campus by removing the walls and fences between the properties on Venice Road. Demolition will take place during the holidays, so the noise of this will not affect our boys. The current head’s house will be converted into a wonderful Media Centre for the College, with rooms for research, discussion, reading and reflection, and the Knowles family will be accommodated in our recently acquired property on Rosetta Road.
In all, the school will spread out and relax amidst the traditional homely surroundings that are so much a part of our character and that will add an immeasurable quality to our environment.
